Homeowners in China are often introduced to land-grab tactics by real estate developers who want to transform an area.
Many owners who refuse to sell out or accept compensation (assuming it low) by property builders for their land are harassed to make them let go of their claims. The showdown results in broken houses, also called ‘nail graves,’ that sits smack in the middle of high-rise areas while everything around them is broken down and rebuilt.
