30 Things That Only Happen In China

Interviews Before Execution

25. Interviews Before Execution

A morbid attempt at reality television, ‘Interviews Before Execution’ was a popular show that allowed a channel to hold exclusive interviews with inmates on death row just before their execution. They went as far as inquiring how the condemned felt while guns were aimed at them to be fired.

The show went on for quite some time but was later ordered by the government to discontinue airing. The only reason this happened was because a BBC documentary made on the show showcased the country in a negative light. Concerns over China’s global image drove the embarrassed officials to cancel it.
