It gets exciting around New Years’ Eve; could be something to do with the possibilities of future opportunities and a fresh start to the year. Usually, countdown starts around midnight and the celebration dies down within 1-2 days.
Surprisingly in China, New Year’s celebrations can last up to 2 weeks! The Chinese New Year commences on the first day of the lunar month with the New moon in sky and ends on the Full moon, 15 days from then. Specific rituals are observed each day of the event and the last day ends with the grand Lantern Festival.
