17. A Large Terracotta Army
If you’ve seen ‘Mummy Returns: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’, you know what to expect.
Modelled after the army of China’s first emperor Qin Shihuang’s army, China is home to a large collection of life-size terracotta warriors and horses. The idea was to substitute actual remains of soldiers who died during the war and were buried alongside the king shall he need them in the afterlife.
Out of 6,000 figurines, not even 2,000 are up for display in the public eye. There 38 chariot-driven statues and impressively each one of them is different in one way or another.
